Joy and Gratitude on January 15, 2022

Joy and Gratitude on for January 15, 2022 (temporary title)

I am grateful for the privilege of being Mommy and Grammie.

I am filled with joy when my children and my grandchildren are all with me at the same time. Doesn’t happen very often.

I am grateful for my little house on my quiet street with my wonderful neighbors on both sides.

I am grateful to be indoors with electricity and heat on this sub-freezing night.

It fills me with joy when I receive a handwritten card or letter from literally anyone.

I am grateful to have lived SIX decades and to be healthy, strong and as free as a Black woman can be.

I am grateful that the decision I made 30 years ago to become a public servant has afforded me the luxury to choose when and if I want to work now.

It fills me with joy to encourage young people to write and to hear their words leap off the page.

I am grateful for the tenacity and faith of my ancestors. I am, because they lived.
