Good news: I found a hidden spring
rushing the day after rain. Babble
Babble babble. For real ya'll.
I trampled down and sat on a stone
in the sun in the water, water
rushed around it.
I closed my eyes and asked,
"What have you to say to me,
hidden spring? Anything?"
I was afraid to listen.
What if I were to lose my mind?
But I calmed down and opened up
to the flower of the water.
"Denise," I heard.
Denise was my piano teacher
when I was a child.
Shiny brown hair. She was patient.
I love her but I'm afraid
to know her as an adult, due to change.
Just as I am afraid to listen to the river
just in case I go somewhere that breaks
me in half. But it's fine, I'm glad
I listened to the spring. I even
stuck my hand into the water
to see if I could change
the sound I was hearing. Turns out,
I could.
